If Superman ever did come to town they'd be feeding him as much Cryptonite as they could figure out how to - and that'd just be for starters and as a first response (ie figure out how to kill it first); pretty disgusting, actually, watching some men trying to figure out how to shoot their sciences and their own species squarely in the foot.
Actually, almost as disgusting as the group that'd have the bright idea about all the health benefits they were gonna get if they could just figure out how they could carve him up for dinner - initially, not realizing that a living system can't/won't actually be gifted that way.
