Let me add some comments.
Copper vessels are extensively used to hold water which is sanctified in Hindu rituals. Obviously, those who started the practice may have known something about the unseen properties of copper.
Copper as a medicine is used in Homeopathy.
In a website article linked in copper.org, there are some studies going on in using copper oxide in clothing such as socks to prevent infection, which if it works, would be a boon to soldiers in battlefield and diabetics.
We are yet to learn about the full range of good effects of copper.
