Dear friends

A few views...

Maybe we aught to add the following for consideration...

We have in Luke 6:24-35:
"24 But woe to you that are rich: for you have your consolation. 25 Woe to you that are filled: for you shall hunger. Woe to you that now laugh: for you shall mourn and weep. 26 Woe to you when men shall bless you: for according to these things did their fathers to the false prophets. 27 But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies. Do good to them that hate you. 28 Bless them that curse you and pray for them that calumniate you. 29 And to him that strikes you on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that takes away from you your cloak, forbid not to take your coat also. 30 Give to every one that asks you: and of him that takes away your goods, ask them not again. 31 And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner. 32 And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also do this. 34 And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? For sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much. 35 But love your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. " (Luke 6:24-35)

H. P. Blavatsky said;
"Then what is the meaning of the whole Chapter V of Matthew, of the Sermon on the Mount, in which every one of these Commandments is virtually criticised and destroyed by the new amendments?
âYe have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
âBut I say unto you that ye resist not evil,â etc. [Matt., v. 38-39.]
Glance at the big centres of our Christian civilizations. Look at the jails, the court and the prison-house, the tribunals, and the police; see the distress, with starvation and prostitution as its results. Look at the host of the men of law and of judges; and then see how far the words of Christ, âLove your enemies, bless them that curse you, Judge not that ye be not judged,â apply to the whole structure of our modern civilised life, and how far we may be called Christians. "

H. P. Blavatsky said:
"Any Christian can, if he will, compare the Sermon on the Mount with the dogmas of his church, and the spirit that breathes in it, with the principles that animate this Christian civilisation and govern his own life; and then he will be able to judge for himself how far the religion of Jesus enters into his Christianity, and how far, therefore, he and Theosophists are agreed. But professing Christians, especially the clergy, shrink from making this comparison. Like merchants who fear to find themselves bankrupt, they seem . to dread the discovery of a discrepancy in their accounts which could not be made good by placing material assets as a set-off to spiritual liabilities. "

So, I say do god to those who find material goods to be important.

In the 2007 Minutes of the GC Meeting, it was reported:

"The English General Secretary explained the difficulties, above all
financial, which had led to the decision to sell Tekels Park. A deficit of
GBP 60 thousand per annum was involved. The ideal would be to obtain an
  offer of GBP 6 million."

  ****

MKR: The above translates into about 9 million dollars. This will make
English Section, the richest of all sections out distancing American
  Section.

The Section has about 700 members and with the income generated will make
the section awash in a lot of cash.
It will be interesting to see how they plan to use the money in furthering
  theosophy in England.
