Dear friends

My views are:

My views on Alice A. Bailey and other teachers relations to masonic teachings and politics I recently posted about here at theos-talk. I will seek to throw a few more words about the issue in this and the following post here at Theos-talk forum.

Try this e-mail:

Masonic Secrets AAB and Count Germain -
(posted at Theos-talk January 15th, 2010)

And also the following comparative study, which I have split in two parts...

PART 1 - The Alice A. Bailey groups involvement in Masonry and politics...

1.
I find it important that H. P. Blavatsky only spake out in favour of the Blue Lodge Masonry and Odd-Fellows as they were operating in England in her time. And this she never officially rejected later on. But she clearly rejected the Scottish Rite, which Alice A. Bailey's husband Foster Bailey was a staunch 32 degree Mason of. And this must be a predicament, which aught to be solved if any honest theosophical Seeker should follow Alice A. Bailey's views about "In the case of H. P. B. this is apparent. On the tide of the present endeavor, the Secret Doctrine will be vindicated and her work justified." (A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, page 707-8, written 1925, by Alice A. Bailey, english edition.) - Do we only hear the sound of silence form the Alice A. Bailey groups about this?

One aught to ask the Alice A. Bailey followers whether it is proper esoteric teaching to muddle this fact about H. P. Blavatsky being against the Scottish Rite masonry and the other numerous humbugs of the same kind?

I will throw a few quotes in the following so to avoid the Eastern Doctrine of theosophy in loosing its importance when compared to the present day acceptance of westernized freemasonry and political activities given by Alice A. Bailey (or her Tibetan voice).

a)
Blavatsky wrote in Isis Unveiled, vol. II, p. 390:
"That bastard foundling of Freemasonry, the 'Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite,' which is unrecognized by the Blue Lodges was the enunciation, primarily, of the brain of the Jesuit Chevalier Ramsay."
http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/isis/iu2-08b.htm

Some scholars and masons like to dispute this view. But proper research reveals, that Blavatsky's words are very very close to the truth.

b)
H. P. Blavatsky said with regard to Masonry (1878):
"If you will kindly refer to my Isis Unveiled (Vol. II, p. 394), you will find me saying: "We are under neither promise, obligation, nor oath, and therefore violate no confidence"-reference being made to Western Masonry, to the criticism of which the chapter is devoted; and full assurance is given that I have never taken "the regular degrees" in any Western Masonic Lodge. Of course, therefore, having taken no such degree, I am not a thirty-third degree Mason. In a private note, also in your most recent editorial, you state that you find yourself taken to task by various Masons, among them one who has taken thirty-three degrees-which include the "Ineffable"-for what you said about me. My Masonic experience-if you will so term membership in several Eastern Masonic Fraternities and Esoteric Brotherhoods-is confined to the Orient. But, nevertheless, this neither prevents my knowing, in common with all Eastern "Masons," everything connected with Western Masonry (including the numberless humbugs that have been imposed upon the Craft during the last half century) nor, since the receipt of the diploma from the "Sovereign Grand Master," of which you publish the text, my being entitled to call myself a Mason."
(Blavatsky Collected Writings Volume 1 Page 307 - http://www.katinkahesselink.net/blavatsky/articles/v1/y1878_009.htm)

M. Sufilight says:
So I wonder why Alice A. Bailey in her books promoted that Freemasonry in the future was going to be the place for advanced students of Occultism without forwarding the differences between western and eastern Masonic teachings of past and present?

- Especially when the co-founder of the Theosophical Society never was a member of any Masonic group of the West, and never had any masonic secret not to reveal. And the fact that Alice A. Bailey through her writings clearly has a very relaxed attitude towards the many humbug masonry groups, which did exist and still do exist ought to make one wonder about whether this was a healthy strategy. Even if Alice A. Bailey did mention, that they ought to be reformed.

(See also Volume 11, Blavatsky Collected Writings Page 62-101, 72* - THE ROOTS OF RITUALISM IN CHURCH AND MASONRY - "It is a matter of History-however unreliable the latter-for a number of facts preserved by ancient writers corroborate it, that Church Ritualism and Freemasonry have sprung from the same source, and developed hand in hand."..."But Churches and Masonry have widely diverged since the days when both were one. If asked how a profane can know it, the answer comes: ancient and modern Freemasonry are an obligatory study with every Eastern Occultist."...."Since the origin of Masonry, the split between the British and American Masons and the French "Grand Orient" of the "Widow's Sons" is the first one that has ever occurred. It bids fair to make of these two sections of Masonry a Masonic Protestant and a Roman Catholic Church, as far as regards ritualism and brotherly love, at all events.")

c)
In the TS Glossary she also mentions a strange group named:
Quatuor Coronati Lodge of Freemasons, No. 2076. And she calls it highly esoterical. Today one will not find much information on the Internet about it.

TS Glossary, 1892 (posthumous) by Blavatsky
"Fluvii Transitus (Lat.). Or crossing of the River (Chebar). Cornelius Agrippa gives this alphabet. In the Ars Quatuor Coronatorum, Vol. III., part 2, 1890, which work is the Report of the proceedings of the Quatuor Coronati Lodge of Freemasons, No. 2076, will be found copies of this alphabet, and also the curious old letters called Melachim, and the Celestial alphabet, supplied by W. Wynn Westcott, P.M. This Lodge seems to be the only one in England which really does study "the hidden mysteries of Nature and Science" in earnest."
http://www.archive.org/stream/theosophicalglo00meadgoog#page/n130/mode/1up/search/mason

This is not mentioned by Alice A. Bailey. On the other hand we also agree, that every masonic group can of course not be important or really theosophical in nature.

d)
H. P. Blavatsky said with regard to Masonry in her Esoteric Section (1890):
"No member of this Section shall belong to any other body, association, or organization for the purpose of mystic study or occult training, except Masonry and the Odd Fellows, if they so desire. But they must be as careful to guard the secrecy of this Section from Masons as they are to preserve the secrets of Masonry from Theosophists. The reason for this rule is so self-evident as to need no explanation."
(Blavatsky Collected Writings Volume 12 Page 496-497 - http://www.katinkahesselink.net/blavatsky/articles/v12/y1890_052.htm)

M. Sufilight says:
Now the above words by H. P. Blavatsky are interesting to know about because of the great influence Masonry have had especially in the Western countries since 1891.

And because Alice A. Bailey and Annie Besant emphasised Masonry and politics much more than H. P. Blavatsky, who was against politicians calling them a "living, walking LIE" (Blavatsky Collected Writings volume 10 Page 293) . This appearntly because no politician in her time (at least in the western countries) could promote theosophical wisdom teachings, without omitting the eastern doctrine, through any political governed country, neither by promoting Party Politics or as a member of a Government in for instance a Democratic country or semi-Democratic country. - The simple reason being that "true democracy" (used in a somewhat unclear manner by Alice A. Bailey; The Externalization of the Hierarchy) or rather the Wisdom Teachings do not at all endorse democracy with its human-made laws on pieces of paper, its courts and Judges, the penalties, and more or less evil prisons. But the Initiates seeks to guide the politicians and Judges from time to time. And any honest and wise politician cannot today practise real and honest theosophy while accepting membership of a political framework or constitiution. Hence he or she will simply be a more or less Walking Lie. - Alice A. Bailey and Annie Besant obvoiusly promoted that this Walking Lie is necessary because the endresults are altruistic in nature. H. P. Blavatsky and Master K.H. (Se Mahatma Letter no. 5, 6, 28, 98! on A. O. Hume and the A. I. Branch - "A very, very excellent man our friend Mr. Hume, but utterly unfit for moulding into an adept." - K.H.) appearntly held the view that such a "scheme" was not quite theosophical and not based on the Esoteric Gupta Vidya teachings, and not on Universal Brotherhood.

These are however only my views, and I might be in error.
I wrote them so be of service to us all.

So why meddle with politics and be involved with political disputes?

Any comments?

Dear friends

My views are:

I will throw a quote from Alice A. Bailey's book named "Letters on Occult Meditation" so to make people aware of that this particular book contain something of value, although it has its errors here and there...
Yet we cull the good in each as they say.
