When I was a member of the Theosophical Society in Spokane-we had many things happen I did not like so I stopped going to meeting and just studied on my own. I would love to be part of a group that stands for what the Society is supposed to belive in and that is the compassion and spiritual and philosophical interests world wide of it's members. To be flexable in views held by others. We are all on this path and tolerance is a virtue.

MKR,

Can you imagine thinking/plotting to yourself; well let's just take this person's name off of their book and put this dead guy's name on it and then deed it to us - noone will ever know!

Or how about writing wacky materials (several) and then efforting to falsely attribute the lot to someone that isn't even alive anymore thus capable of defending themselves.

Clearly these are not people who have ever working in the publishing industry - however and obviously, these are not spiritual people. It's a swindle, a racket, and I am concerned that more (more and more?) of our elderly could be preyed upon.

The facts are that our Orgs have scholarly people whose works and efforts and private libraries aren't always being adequately safeguarded nor being dealt with (after their passing) ethically.

A person's passing does in fact not equal suddenly some sort of a free-for-all, nor should it.

In particular I'm thinking that it would be nice if and for the future we could set up some sort of precautions a/o protective measures available to assist in these matters if/when it interests an individual and such assistance is requested.

In a sense it is maybe a sad realization that we are not looking after our scholars and their materials/libraries as best we can.

I've been discussing with Morton these sorts of matters - the future as it may relate to Theosophical activities.

Thanks for the link, I will have a look at it.

Terrie
