Dear Anand,
Point taken. I'm not ruling out some calculative, strategic thinking on his side.
After all, the statement was made in the context of the 1980 PTS election in which two candidates ran: Radha Burnier and Rukmini Arundale.
K interfered in this election by promising that he would visit Adyar again if Radha would win.
(BTW, Radha was at the 1980 Saanen Krishnamurti gathering in Switzerland when she heard the news she had won. Coincidence or symbolic?)
Why would his visit be conditional on her presidency? What was he thinking? What what his motive?
(BTW, I have no idea how far and wide K's proposition was known during the 1980 PTS election process.)
It is quite possible that both K and Radha were really convinced of K's exalted metaphysical status and were looking for ways to get the TS behind him again as both might have seen that as the original plan, going all the way back to HPB as I pointed out.
If that's the case it also makes sense that Radha would willingly pass the presidency to Prof. Krishna, a Krishnamurti devotee and KFI trustee, but not give it up to Algeo, who's on record with a more cautious perception of K.

Dear Govert,
When K made statement that "Mrs.Besant intended the land at Adyar to be meant for the teaching. The Theosophical Society has failed, the original purpose is destroyed.", it should not necessarily be considered as his honest opinion.
K might have thought that if Adyar TS could be used for his purpose by telling Theosophists such things, then why not do it? This statement of K might be said just to make Adyar TS work for him.
You know how "honest and truthful" K was when he made many other statements.
