Yes John, you will have to look into it.  He left the Anglican Church as a curate when he contacted Theosophy.  As a curate he would have taught the doctrines which he later rejected.  He was consecrated into what became the Liberal Catholic Church which for years after had very close links to the TS; the Christian church at Adyar is a Liberal Catholic one.  This does not of itself make his views on Christianity christian or theosophical just his.  He has been vilified and canonised; both equally just matters of someone's belief but we should try to get the facts right before we launch into 'smart' comments such as yours
