TS - Recent General Council Meeting

The reporting on the recent GC meeting is slowly trickling in. In addition
to the messages here, there is also a discussion on the ning forum setup by
TS in America.

In the past of more than half-a-century, membership were never told of
anything that went on in the GC meetings. Also there was no Internet for
members around the world to keep each other informed as well. Now the
conditions have changed.

We still do not know how many section leaders around the world have taken
trouble to inform their members. I hope they do soon. If any section leader
has reported their summary of the proceedings, it would be interesting for
us to share with all of the members.

Each person's perception is from their perspective; combined picture of the
reporting of various sections will help us to get a more complete picture of
the proceedings of the meeting. Waiting for the official report will not
help. In most official reports, some of the background information of how
the issues were viewed and analysed and how decisions were taken would be
left out. This kind of information is more important because of their
implication for the future, especially in the current crisis in the TS.

If anyone hears from sections around the world, please post them here. If
the poster wants to be anonymous, you can send the info to me or any active
member on this list who would be happy to post it.

As one member recently commented, it is very easy to broadcast the meetings
on the Internet. Put a camera in the meeting and those interested can watch
it and come to their own conclusions. Full transparency which will kill all
rumors and possible misunderstandings.
