Here's the single best quote from the biography in terms of giving his 
attitudes that seem most in tune with the TS and also the HBofL.  It is 
from chapter 28 of the novel Godolphin.  By cultivating the 
imagination, the Egyptians and other ancient peoples "not only attained 
to the most intimate arcana of the stars, but also to the empire of the 
spirits about, above, and beneath the earth: a power, indeed, disputed 
by the presumptuous sophists of the present time, but of which their 
writings yet contain ample proof...By this spirit within the flesh, we 
grow from the flseh, and may see, and at length invoke the souls of the 
dead, and receive warnings, and hear omens, and girdle our sleep with 
dreams."
