MKR wrote here about the annual meeting of the General Council, which 
takes place at Adyar very soon. In my understanding we don't have to 
worry about the decisions on the rule amendments, because we have 
heard that they are not on the agenda.

Also an other reason makes us breathe easier. The "rules expert" John 
Algeo (Betty Bland wrote something like this about him) cannot 
participate this meeting, because he is not an additional member of 
the GC anymore.

The newest Theosophist of December 2008 writes that Mrs Linda 
Oliveira is the new International Vice-President of the Theosophical 
Society in place of Dr John Algeo since October 20. So the General 
Council elected her before its meeting.

The official note of the same magazine also says that International 
Secretary Miss Mary Anderson resigned and left for England and 
Europe. We can speculate that these two changes (Anderson and Algeo) 
are due to the recent presidential elections and amendment polemics.

I hope that all amendments will be discussed at Adyar openly without 
decicions and that discussions will be informed to all members.

I can't find Linda's age anywhere on the net, but I think she must be 
between 50 and 60. This is what the Quest magazine, July-August 2007, 
writes:

"Linda Oliveira joined the Theosophical Society in 1971, first as a 
member of Canberra Lodge and subsequently as a member of Blavatsky 
Lodge, Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the 
Australian National University, majoring in psychology and political 
science. In 1981, she was a student at the Krotona School of 
Theosophy in California, and also worked for a time at the national 
headquarters of the American section. Linda was a member of the 
General Council and has held the office of national president of the 
Theosophical Society in Australia since 2002. She believes deeply 
that a genuine exploration and understanding of the Wisdom teachings 
can provide an opportunity for human spiritual transformation, which 
is so badly needed in today's world."
