Dear Gineata,
I've experienced something similar. When I was 13 years old I was looking for an organization to become a member. I visited every place you can imagine. From the adventist church to the Umbanda (Afro-religious movement in Brazil), I went to Kardecists and to the Amorc etc. None of these places were the one I was looking for. So I gave up my search. After many years accidentaly I picked a book from a library (ironically my mother's library) and the title of the book was THe Theosophical Society Today (in Portuguese). When I saw the name Theosophical Society I just knew there was the place I had to go. I asked my mother why she never told me about the T.S.. The reply she gave its not suitable to comment here. I found the T.S. on the yellow pages, next day I went there and became a member. All this are situations we cannot explain.
Welcome to the group.
Erica

Subject: Theos-World hello I am new
Just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself. I wanted you to know
how I came to this site...many years ago I was walking down the
street. I came upon an estate sale. I went in and heard others talking
about the person who had just passed on. I love books and I have a
very inquisitive mind...I found a book on Theos and picked it up. I
opened the book and felt a hand on mine but no one was anywhere near
me. I dropped the book and literally ran out of the place. I am now
ready to take a look at this stuff. I am emotionally and physically
ready to face what ever the truth is without fear. Have any of you
ever had any experiences like this and do you have any advice for a
newbee? Peace to all gineata
