While both HSO and HPB were involved in social projects, it was Besant who
launched and implemented several social and educational projects. In her
inaugural speech, Besant makes special plea as to the need for Theosophy to
address the needs of the public. Let me see if I can locate it and post it
here. Too much activity in higher planes without much on physical does not
help the common man and woman and until we touch the lives of common man and
woman, we will not attract new members.
