We also have
http://theosophy-forum.com/index.php
I could create one similar and let it be going like Theos-talk are, but with
all the other groups included as well. But, the question is whether it would
be better? - Yahoo's owners have certain flaws in their ethics, which
sometimes can be annoying to watch.

We already have the theos-talk and theos-L. Here is one place where those
belonging various organizations and those who belong to none are
participating as brothers and sisters -- true theosophists. Apparently, none
of those in the administration directly or indirectly want to show up
(exception being Pedro and in the past Einar (now deceased)) on it even
though everyone knows that it is closely monitored by some in the
leadership.

PS: Even though some times there is a lot of noise, here is a place where
you can find information which is unavailable anywhere or people are
unwilling to talk about! Some newbees are terrified because it is one place
where equality prevails without anyone fearing any personality or
organization, truly a very scary place for those coming from a closed
protective environment.

Perhaps you could start an Internet Membership for those interested in
theosophy. Only problem I can foresee is the division between the purist

the Melbourne Theosophical society to get their own website as there are
some very fine minds there.

Subject: Theos-World Internet and TS
For over a decade, I have been repeatedly writing about the huge
opportunity
that Internet presents for TS and Theosophy. The most elementary and
easiest
and most extensively used application is e-mail. (Even people who do not
own
a computer and Internet, use e-mail from public libraries.) This can and
should be very effectively and inexpensively used for communication
between
organizations and their members around the world.
The indications based on the crumbs we have seen during electioneering for
the International President shows that many of the top elite around the
world are extensively using e-mail for multi-way communication between
themselves. But the same has not happened between the organizations and
the
membership. Organizations are still clinging to the print media, and the
communication is one way and news items which are too late are old news.
Since most of the leadership are quite old, we can understand their not
being able to fully comprehend the immense opportunity that Internet has
presented itself to the world, which includes TS. If they do not wake up
soon, we may have to wait until they are replaced by the current
generation
which has grown up with computers and Internet, which may take several
decades since all the systems have been fine tuned so younger leadership
cannot quickly move up. This will be a great missed opportunity.
Here are a few quotes from a recent news article:
- Robinson is now 106 - that's 35 years older than McCain - and she began
using the Internet at 98, at the Barclay Friends home in West Chester,
Pa.,
where she lives. "I started to learn because I wanted to e-mail my
family,"
she says - in an e-mail message, naturally.
- Why do most of us - 73 percent of Americans - use the Internet? The top
three reasons are, in order, e-mail, informational searches, and finding a
map or driving directions.
