The campaign against Radha Burnier started, officially, on 19 December
2007, with Elvira Carbonell's letter to General Council members. She
was working at Adyar as assistant to Mary Anderson, International
Secretary. The opening paragraph of Carbonell's letter speaks for
itself:
"Since there has been uncertainty about the state
of our President's health and our
Vice-President's willingness and ability to
accept nominations for the upcoming Presidential
election, several of us at Adyar feel the need to
write to members of the General Council to share
the following information."
As her letter was sent out, by email, the day after the official
nomination papers were sent out, by air mail, by the International
Secretary on 18 December 2007, and as the dealine for nominations to be
received by the Secretary was 25 February 2008, it is not know how many
Council Members nominated John Algeo on the basis of the contents of
Carbonell's letter.
Last time I looked, theos-talk had 355 members. I do not know how many
of them are TS members. On the other hand, the numbers of the anti-
Radha campaign are nothing but impressive:
29 March 2008 - A letter of the French Board of the TS was sent out to
over 350 members in that Section, declaring, among other things, that
Radha had "brain damage" and supporting Algeo's candidacy.
The same letter declared that TS Sections in "Germany, Finland, Spain,
Italy, Portugal, Sweden, the USA, Colombia and Argentina" would write
letters in a similar vein.
The total membership of the Sections mentioned above, excluding Finland
and Argentina, is more than 6,100. (Source: Annual Report of the TS,
2007)
11 April 2008 - Letter from the National President of the American
Section to TS members in the US declaring that Radha's "memory is
inconsistent", and that "it is for the good of the whole that the
leadership pass smoothly to John Algeo".
According to the 2007 Annual Report of the TS, the membership of the
American Section is 4,072.

The next meeting of the General Council is on 25 December 2008. The
deadline for the vote results to be returned to the International
Secretary at Adyar by all Sections is 28 June 2008. Are you suggesting
that the General Council should be convened now?
