And what was Jesus actually teaching?
Is anyone actually aware this today?

Secrecy many times creates problems and generally best way to resolve
conflicts is being transparent, be open, and to reveal facts.
For example in India there is lot of negative opinion about
Christianity in the minds of Hindu people. It is because most of them
don't know what Jesus teaches. If they really know and compare Jesus'
teaching, they will say it is great teaching, very similar to Gita.
That is why if you are doing right things, be open and transparent.
If you are not doing right things, then transparency can bring troubles.
