How interesting Mother Nature rights the balance! I am currently pestered by Possums who eat the new growth from the trees and can even kill them. As Possums will eat anything, including my chillies, I have decided to throw out the scraps into the garden in the hope they will leave the trees alone.

This reminds me of the coyotes in our city. They normally attack small
animals such as cats, dogs, and other small wild animals. Recently, a
biologist told the local city officials not to try to exterminate them since
they seem to breed so the optimum population is reached. You kill them, they
breed faster. You learn to live with them, their breeding slows down. It is
quite possible that man's attempt to control population of animals
automatically get the situation out of balance. i also recall several years
ago, Chinese killed all snakes in the farms and the result was an explosion
of rat population which ate a substantial portion of food grains in the
farms. I do not know about kangaroos. i hope some one looks at the situation
from an overall point of view and there may not be need for mass killing.
