  Hello John
Thanks, I didn't realise they were independent. I'm not sure what your point is regarding the Gulag camps, perhaps you could expand on it. All prison systems are hideous, but it doesn't mean that the internal politics of a country expands into global domination? I'm confused.

Doctors Without Borders is an entirely Independent Association and is not part of the United nations in any form whatever.

I might also add you some how missed the last century, Google "Kolyma" sometime.

Absolutely agree with you Chuck. I lived and worked in Hong Kong and China and have always said that the Chinese were too entreprenaurial and mercantile to take the time and energy to conquer others, except perhaps as a by-product of economic management. The russian people have been through too much suffering and your ideas on Putin, I believe, reflect the population's view, although since Chekhov, I have always admired the Russians and those that I have met have been more interested in having a drink with you than in conquering you.

The UN is organized nepotism, a great job, where you are paid to sit around and do as little as possible as often as possible. With one exception, I believe their program of Doctors without boundaries is what Bailey probably had in mind.

What is this constant fear over communism and communists taking over the
world. This propaganda has been going on since before Korea.

Well, for a long time there was a very rational basis for the fear. That
was what the 50 year game was all about.

It is of course nonsense to worry about communism now. The Chinese are too
interested in making money for ideology to matter much and Putin's motives
seem to be pure nationalism, he wants Russia to be taken seriously again,
forgetting what happened the last time that it was.

But the UN is a joke, a bloated bureaucracy that can do nothing, solve
nothing and the only real threat it presents is the possibility that the hot air
emanating from it may somehow scald someone. Still, when Crazy Old Alice was
writing there were lots of people who actually thought it might amount to
something so we can't blame her too much.
