You are right.
Most religions and sects try to control people based on fear of now or here
after or even in future lives. Several years ago, I even had an incident
when a well-known theosophist (a very ambitious one who likes titles!!!)
once tried very subtly indicate to me of the Karmic consequences of some
action I was involved in.

With my background, he chose a wrong person to scare. Frustrated, I suppose
the person mentioning to some people on the other side of the earth, that I
am a very dangerous person on the Internet!!! Ha Ha Ha.

I got an inquiry as to how I can be a dangerous person from a sane person
who heard the statement. So if anyone or any organization or any sect or any
group tries to influence anyone thru Fear, beware and call the bluff!!!
