Does anyone know if the info on J. Wedgewood is acturate?

In the article "In memory of H.P Blavatsky" by D.J Buxley

He says regarding James Wedgewood that "when I went to see him in
Camberley in 1950 he had already gone mad" and the editors note
says "from tertiary syphilis".
Does anyone know if this is backed up by any other evidence ?
