Daniel,
Thanks for the post. Interesting as it concerns the Bardo Thodol Tibetan
Teachings.
>>[But according
to the esoteric teaching] the spirit is dazed after death and falls
very soon into what we call "pre-devachanic unconsciousness." . . .<<
In the Bardo Thodol it is the shock of death that makes consciousness
experience "The Swoon of Death" which they say is a variable period which can be
brief or for weeks or longer. Where upon the consciousness reawakens to begin
the experiences described in the Bardo Thodol. This is a distinct contrast to
what Blavatsky characterizes as "predevachanic unconsciousness" but in my view
she and they are commenting on an identical stage the we will all experience
upon death unless of course some are truly Adept which is what a lot of the
Tibetan Training is endeavoring to inculcate to the point that a true Nirmanakaya
stage of uninterrupted conscious state is possessed that is not beholden unto
death.
Sogyal Rinpoche is among others what I think of as one of The Swans Who
Flew to America and I believe he is an example of the Tibetan Remed Movement
that I mentioned some time back that appeared concurrently with the life of H.P.B.
