Maybe the following well known story is an appropriate comment:
Two monks were traveling together when they came across a river
crossing. There on the bank, they saw a beautiful woman, finely
dressed, who wished to cross the river but was unable to do so.
Without a word, the older monk simply picked up the woman and carried
her to the other side.
The young monk, seemingly agitated for the rest of their journey,
could not contain himself. Once they reached their destination after
a couple of days, he exploded at the older monk. "How could you, a
monk, even consider carrying a woman in your arms, much less a young
and beautiful one? It is against our teachings. It is very dangerous."
"I put her down two days ago," said the older monk. "Why are you
still carrying her?"
Past of every human being and movement is full of falls. What counts
are compassion, brotherly feelings and the rises to move on after
these falls. Human beings are not just black or white, they are
colorful.
Or what about this serious question: How will you deal with your
daughter's love towards a nice, wise, laborious, benevolent, popular,
untouchable "drug-dealer"? Will you kill him? Or will you try to win
your daughter's love with hard work, perseverance, understanding and
compassion?
Our civilization is full of "drug-dealers" (in politics, media,
commerce, religions, "spiritual" movements, …) and none of us is
really completely independent of these drugs.
Best regards,
Anton
