 My thinking about this date is that possibly the global warming that is being so much heralded by Al Gore and others will show itself in a seriously catastrophic way. Also, there is more and more talk of extra terrestrial sightings in the popular USA press these days...most unusual I think. Usually the extra-terrestrial talk is kept to the internet forums exclusively. This, along with the radical rise of jihadists is threatening our world as never before. It is time for us all to unite in Brotherhood and in Action.

I think that both of these quotations are not any way related to 2012.
2012 because famous in connection with the cult promoted by Arguelles.
They say that Mayan calender ends at that time. While it is just an 
end of some cycle. I had a Tibetan calender which ended somewhere in 
1980's - just because it wasn't calculated for future years in that 
edition.

As for yugas or zodiacal cycles, 2012 is no more remarcable than 2000 
or any other converntionally selected date.
