On ULT's Finances

Cass, Friends,
I am not against judging. That has been already clearly stated here, I guess, by myself and in long conversations.
But before judging, or assessing, anyone should make sure he has accurate and enough information.
Therefore, I haven't even considered those financial data about "Theosophy Company" in details.
Having directed or accompanied several significantly-sized NGOs in a way that included discussing their financial statements, having been a member of the National Council of the Adyar TS in Brazil and thus having accompanied its yearly financial statements and reports, I do positively know that it is absolutely not possible to judge, or to assess, the accounting of an organization on the basis of a few broad and general figures.
This is common sense to everyone who can add two and two in management.
Besides, trees can be best judged by their fruits.
The ULT asks no money from anyone. In fact, I can tell you a story. A friend of the ULT in the UK with whom I had contact years ago wrote to the ULT-LA in the 1990s, I think, on a serious business: he wanted to legally include in his last will and testament the ULT as the receiver of a significant part or everything of his earthly possessions. He sent his offer, and there was simply no answer whatsoever. Because of this, he got angry at the ULT, by the way.
ULT's publications are in most cases much cheaper than the average market price. It gives free assistance to students the world over, and you can see a public vow on that in the monthly magazine "The Theosophical Movement", for instance, which is published in India.
So, Theosophy Co. is not about getting money, it is about giving assistance to voluntary workers and students worldwide. Facts are facts, and I have seen that.
Regards, Carlos.
