Hi Cass,
Thank you for your kind words. The occult path is full of paradoxes that become clear the more advanced ones insight into the nature of things. The Antahkarana is built simultaniously in two directions at the same time. Downward as the Divine Jiva or upper triad attempts to influence or awaken the 4 fold lower man of its true nature. And upward by the lower man as he or she attempts to elevate their consciousness to higher levels. Although outside of time as we understand the term there is only one movement simultaniously in both directions. While in incarnation the personality struggling for light is unfortunately deprived of the understanding of the other half of this magical work because it is happening on levels that are as yet too refined and lofty for it to understand. The charts given in Theosophical literature are very helpful but were not meant to convey absolute truths but symbols of a process of movement that is far more wholistic and organic in nature. To
understand the Antahkarana try visualizing a torus effect, an infinity sign, or a dual vortex that is seemlessly connected moving both up and down and in and out at the same time. Instead of seeing the bridge of consciousness being built like a mere line that goes from here to there. See this subjective and magical process of spiritual growth as more like a balloon that as it inflates exspnds exspedentially in all directions and on all sides.

You say:

"Before antakarana can be bridged the lower self must be cleansed of all selfish thoughts, selfish emotions and selfish acts."

But the opposite is equally true.

It is by enlarging Antahkarana that one can know fist-hand about probation, which is self-purification. Antahkarana gives you the larger perspective to look at yourself.

As to the Solovyofs, old and modern, if you study more about the process of aspiring to wisdom in the theosophical movement, you will get to know, sooner or later, about "defending one's teachers".

Carlos.

The only way to achieve this is to self judge all thoughts, emotions and actions and in doing so, see the error of our ignorance, which should lead to a non-judgemental, non-critical, attitude towards all. (And that includes , Coloumbs, Soloyviev, Leadbeater et al).
