Esoteric Philosophy teaches its students how to find wisdom within themselves.  On the other hand,   ritualism invites them to adore outer forms.  
 
Theosophy says it is an illusion to try to bring wisdom down to the world of outer form and ceremonies. One has to elevate oneself, instead. 
 
“There is nothing new under the Sun”, says Ecclesiastes, 1, in the Old Testament; and the  dire problems caused by ceremonialisms are no exception to the rule.  
 
In the New Testament,  Jesus questions  the centralized,  ritualistic religious structures in his region of  the Roman Empire. Gautama Buddha did the same  in the Hindu world.  As to H.P.B.,  she  tells us that ritualistic blindness and ignorance come from far earlier periods.   
 
She writes: 
 
“It was the Atlanteans, the first progeny of  semi-divine man after his separation into sexes – hence the first-begotten and humanly-born mortals – who became the first “Sacrificers” to the god of matter. They stand in the far-away dim past, in ages more than prehistoric, as the prototype on which the great  symbol of Cain was built, as the first anthropomorphists who worshipped form and matter. That  worship degenerated very soon in self-worship, thence led to phallicism, or that which reigns supreme to this day in the symbolisms of every exoteric religion of ritual, dogma, and form.” (1) 
 
In the lines above, HPB  makes the link between  ritualisms and phallicism. By “phallicism”, she means every form of sex-worship or sex-abuse disguised under spiritual labels.  We will find both ritualism and sex-abuse in C. W. Leadbeater’s action and methods of influence over the theosophical movement. 
 
What did  HPB have to say specifically about sexual worship? 
 
 “The very soul of Theosophy is dead against Phallic worship; and its occult or esoteric section more so even than the exoteric teachings.” (2) 
 
May good Karma ripen in due time and make it possible for the Adyar TS to get rid of those unethical and untruthful influences which, disguised in ritualism,  deny and ignore the most basic principles of the esoteric philosophy and its Ethics,   while using the names of Masters and Initiates to have an appearance of legitimacy and to cover – selfishness.     
 
No delusion can last for  ever. “A lie has no legs to stand upon for long” (3).    As I see it, all over the  world  thousands of sincere Adyar theosophists are still unconsciously trapped in illusion and deserve a cultural rebirth. 
 
Not to mention wider circles of human beings to whom Theosophy should be able to be available.
