I think they cannot be defined as conscious slanderers but clearly
they are not very reliable or even somewhat unscrupulous.
After your warning we should be more careful and critical to their
works.
Where from could Soloviov fetch the private letters to Aksakov which
was already dead at that time? If they are in some public archive then
the reference should be given.
Even if he posessed the original letters he had every possibilities to
introduce slight changes or make omissions which change the meaning.
Algeo, at least, specifies the source and adds that the original is
unavailable.
