Can you please explain what exactly "STRONG EMOTIONAL INJUNCTIONS" means.
Have you considered that perhaps your wife has chosen a country that views Women not only equal to men, but superior to them? Although I do not believe this for one minute.
I spent over 5 years in Hong Kong and sometime in mainland China and I can assure you that if the government views you as an "undesirable" (for whatever political reasons) you will be publically (if this is still occuring) executed.
