Good question again: what is "long run"? 

How long can an illusion last? 

I can tell you from my field of observation. 

In the 1970s Leadbeater was "everywhere" in esoteric bookshops in Brazil, and in the Adyar theosophical movement, including in other countries.  

>From 1980 on, he has been gradually abandoned as an author within the Adyar movement, while the  power structure he created slowly loses vitality.(Even decades before that, some of his books slowly started to disappear.) 

On the other hand, the part of the movement which studies HPB as a priority has had its own limitations, m which I could not address in a few lines, but whose discussion I would not entirely  avoid.  

One thing I would say, though: HPB's teachings are a strong challenge to people,  and most persons prefere "the easy way". Hence CWL, "Agni Yoga", Alice Bailey,  etc.  

Yet you can't compare the bibliographical strength of HPB and CWL nowadays.  In number of volumes for sale, in editorial projects going on, in number of languages with books available, HPB is an immensely more important author. 

Then, one would say, why is it that some 90 per cent of theosophists belong to Adyar TS? 

1) This an open question to evaluate!

2) Quantity is one thing, quality is another.

3) Undoubtedly, though, Theosophy was not meant for the delight of small groups of people. 

4) Adyar TS has its merits as it is and it cannot be said to be "irrelevant" or anything like that, in my view.
