That is the rule in US (and it exists in Japan and Canada to, by the 

way, but in a much smaller scale) Adoptive Masonry today (we don't 

have Adopted Masonry in Europe anymore), but it was not the case 

when Adoptive Masonry was founded in the late 18 century France. But 

probably al members of Adopted lodges had close male masons as 

relatives. It was the lodge that was adopted, and not the female 

mason, her self. 



Masonry for women is more or less accepted in Europe today. It is 

only the Grand Lodges that works according to the Swedish Rite (they 

are to be found in Sweden (Finland is province under Stockholm), 

Norway, Denmark, Germany and Iceland) that not accepting it. But the 

Senior Grand Lodges (Edinburgh, London and Dublin) are saying that a 

local male lodge don't have to have contact and/or co-work with the 

local  female lodge if they don't, for some reasons, want to. The 

U.G.L.E. sees the female lodges as equal the male today.



The Grand Lodges with are connected with The Grand Orient of France 

totally and fully accepts al female and mixed lodges today. But in 

no cases (except on some events) has a female mason the right to 

visit a male lodge, but a male mason from a mixed lodge has the 

right to visit a pure male lodge.



But on the other hand have masons from lodges connected with London, 

not the right to visit lodges connected with Paris, and vice verse. 

The Swedish Rite Grand Lodges are connected with London, and the 

Scottish Rite is to some part connected with London and part 

connected with Paris. The most of the so called Esoteric Masonry are 

connected with Paris. 



The leadbeaterian masonry are not accepted, nor connected with any 

other Grand Lodges (then their own once). Both London and Paris 

consider it today (London has always) be illegal, irregular and not 

real masonry.
