It is self-evident. ;)
When we are lay fellows of the Theosophical Society we are free to
follow practices of any spiritual school and select any teacher as we
like, but when we have committed to the particular guru, we should
obey him and abandon all other practices. These practices may be very
good but the guru has his definite plan for our personal development,
and introduction of these practices into his plan can bring some
disorder and prevent our vehicles of being perfectly tuned.
The similar rule can be found in some Buddhist and other schools.
