Here is a link that will give much information, and I think, if one 
reads between the many lines, much food for thought, particularly 
inasmuch as HPB is said to have fought in Garibaldi's army. Yes, I do 
think that Leadbeater may have used this Egyptian Rite to promote his 
priesthood in the ancient craft. There is some attempt to link this 
rite with the Illuminati Order even today. But the internet is full of 
conspiracy theories, so .... you have been warned.
