Aug. 24, Todays Quote

Well, this one is about as deep as you can get, isn't
it, as far as heart matters.

The paradoxes of the first 2 sentences brings to mind some thoughts on some comments made on "monadic" vs personal level brotherhood. One must be able to feel or experience on an emotional level the difficulties of others, yet after the experience of just reacting on the emotional compassion level, he learns to be detached also and discerning of what is practical action and what is not. Say, you have a friend who is alcoholic. Emotional compassion might cause one to avoid immediate pain, and you'd buy him a bottle. But with detachment or "loosing one's sensitiveness" - while still being aware of the guy's suffering - you have to become practical and refuse to buy the bottle, and seek a real solution, if possible, or do nothing at all if it's beyond your ability or fruitless. - without fooling oneself and
  genuinely becoming heartless.

<"Before the eyes can see, they must be Incapable of tears.
< Before the ear can hear, it must have lost its sensitiveness.
< Before the voice can speak in the presence of the Masters it must have lost the power to wound.
< Before the soul can stand in the presence of the Masters its feet must be washed in the blood of the heart.
