The sentence you bring to us is one of the first in the book. 

The process of "slaying the slayer" (the lower mind) ,  is described in the rest of  "The Voice of the Silence".  It is also the chelaship or initiation process, starting with its preparation which we all can TRY.  

The three Fragments of the book are superb.  They can be read several times over and each time the sentences will inspire new and different insights. 

One advantage of the "Theosophy Co." edition is that all the footnotes are right at the bottom of each page, making it is easy to read them in natural sequence and with no interruption. 

Some of the footnotes deserve extreme attention as they bring us extraordinary "inside information" on the spiritual path.
