DID ALGEO STEAL TEXTS?

Mark,

Thanks for your insights (see below).

It did not occur to me why Algeo had to deny he used Cooper's work with regard to the HPB letters.

It seems you clarify the issue: since Algeo did not have the copyrights and could not use Cooper's work, he had to pretend the editorial work was his own, in order to avoid the law and law suits.

So John Algeo possibly stole John Cooper's work but -- it being illegal -- he made believe he was the responsible for the work. According to this possibility, he then rewrote the stuff -- plagiarized it -- and published it under his own name.

I hope Daniel Caldwell -- who has many things in common with Algeo -- will clarify the issue here and demonstrate Algeo is an honest dealer.

If no Adyar TS member clarifies the issue here for us, I may have to conclude that we are witnessing a most revealing process of moral and ethical decay.

I wonder if Daniel, an active member of Algeo's Editorial Committee, has anything to say about this. Daniel is far from being a teacher of practical Ethics, but he often defends his friend Algeo.

Regards, Carlos Cardoso Aveline
