Perry is absolutely right. Daniel did not see the point. If the forged letters against HPB had been clearly identified as such, probably no one would feel the need of an independent volume.    

Now, since the authentic volume will be made anyway, why include false things in it, even if identified?  

Unidentified poison is lethal, but what's the use of identified poison inside the theosophical literature? 

Why not keeping to letters written by HPB,  in a book which is, after all,  said to publish HER letters, not Soloviof's ?  

Otherwise, the book should be called "Letters of HPB and of Her Various Slanderers".  (Not only Soloviof : we should remember Eleanor Sidgwick.)  

This, in fact,  should be the real name of Algeo's volume. 

Yet -- if people hbave some special need to publish forgeries and libels, as long as they are properly identified as such,  at least the reader will not be astutely misled into thinking that HPB is confessing to be a fraud, a liar  and what-not! 

So, Perry is right and I thank him. In a way, the main issue is publishing not properly identified forgeries among authentic letters.
