Theosophy Virtual Lodge

Schedule Audio Lectures - Readings - Discussions

Schedule for June, 2006

Saturday, June 10 - 11:00 pm New York (EDST)

*The Gospel of Mark*

*Jerry Hejka-Ekins* presents a discussion of this gospel as a
literary (as opposed to an historical) work, in light of the world
views and beliefs of the Greeks, Romans and Jews at the time. He
proposes that the Gospel of Mark is not an historical, but rather a
literary work with a spiritual message, such as other stories of
the time, like those about Heracles and of Odysseus.

Jerry Hejka-Ekins is President of /Alexandria West/, a fraternal
theosophical organization dedicated to promoting the Ancient Wisdom.
He is Editor of /The Serapeum /and Associate Editor of /Theosophical
History/. He is past president of Los Angeles Lodge (Adyar) and an
associate member of ULT. Hejka-Ekins has published /The Perennial
Wisdom/ and numerous theosophical articles and reviews. He has an MA
in English Literature from California State where he developed a
Thesis on W. B. Yeats' relationship with H.P. Blavatsky, the
Theosophical Society and Blavatsky's influence on his poetry, essays
and plays.

Saturday, June 17 - 3:00 pm New York (EDST)

*Ralph Waldo Emerson*

*Bill Meredith* presents: Ralph Waldo Emerson, a lecture including a
sketch of Emerson's life and work and selected readings which
demonstrate that Emerson can be viewed as a forerunner of H.P.
Blavatsky and the modern theosophical movement. Emerson's system of
thought, as presented through his prose and poetry and especially in
The Over-Soul and Self-Reliance can be correlated to the three
fundamental propositions presented later in Blavatsky's The Secret
Doctrine.

Bill Meredith is an independent student of theosophy. He is a
retired military officer with numerous awards and personal
decorations. Meredith earned an MS in Educational Leadership from
Troy State University after graduating with Highest Honors from
Auburn University with a BA in English and a double minor in
philosophy. He resides in Bainbridge, Georgia where he is active in
child welfare issues.

questions.
