Daniel,

There are three central facts with regard to the SD Third Volume, which we should be able to acknowldege. 

1) The Theosophy Co., as Boris de Zirkoff and many others, have said and explained why in their view the so-called thid volume published by A. Besant was not legitimate. 

2) The Adyar TPH, itself, abandoned the Besant "third volume", and adopted Borios de Kirkoff's authentic edition. They must have their reasons to abandon Besant's work. This is a most vehement, though wordless, testimony of that volume's absence of legitimacy... 

3) That the volume is not legitimate, does not mean that every single text there is false or has been tampered with.   I hope that is clear. 

Therefore, we can also think of the CONTENT of that quotation...
