Yet even worse than keeping stuck to gossips about theosophical leaders, is
to circulate wild and proved slanders about them, under the pretext of
"letting people to decide for themselves".
Now, studying their lives and learning from their experiences is really
important.
I understand the point and it does get very tiring to hear constant harping
on misdeeds, even when the misdeeds are hilarious. The problem is striking a
balance between assuming that the people do not matter, only the ideas (which
leaves out the necessity of finding out where the ideas came from in the
first place, and who first used the word Theosophy does not count as finding out
where an idea came from!) and descending into ad hominum where the behavior
of an individual invalidates the ideas of the individual.
It is when people use the excuse of trying to "get beyond the
personalities"as an excuse to try to limit discourse that my blood boils and steam comes
out of my ears, which drives my wife nuts because she is convinced that my head
is going to explode.
