The Hebrews (Kabbalists) pronounce it ko-han or ko-hane which is their title
for male descendants of Moses who they think is the brother of Aaron -- whose
male descendants are also called Kohans. The Jewish name Cohen or Cohn
usually designates a family descended from a Chohan. Actually, the word chohan
means "builder" or "mason", as Moses was -- being the son of the Pharaoh
Tut-Mose II, and in charge of building his father's pyramid-tomb.

Incidentally, Moses was designated to become Tut-Mose III before he was
exiled from the kingdom. Moses was supposed (by the Hebrews) to be the adopted
son of the Pharaoh's daughter Hatshepsut, but she was married to her father (who
had no male heirs from his previous late wife) and later became Pharaoh when
he died. Actually (according to the Egyptians) it was her unmarried sister's
son who was the adopted one. He was called the "bastard " son. But later,
after Moses' mother died, this son became the tyrant Pharaoh Tut-Mose III.
For a slightly distorted Hebrew view of this story of Moses, see:
http://www.mazzaroth.com/ChapterFive/TheBirthOfMoses.htm
There are also Egyptian histories of Moses and his family that tell a
different story, but too many references to list here.

In Theosophy, the Chohans, as the first seven sons (Suns) of the Divine
Source, are the "builders" (or "architects" according to the Masons) of the
Universe. These seven, plus the triple crown, Kether, Binah, and Chochma or cosmic
monad first emanated out of the void, Ein Soph, are the ten Sephiroth of the
Hebrew Tree of Life -- which is shown in Theosophy to be identical with the
Hindu hierarchy descending from the triple crown of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
