Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges said he did not remember a time when he 
could not  read.

He was often accused of having never "lived", because his life was all about 
books.

People forgot that reading is also living if your whole being is present in 
the act of reading.  At the same time, doing anything else than reading may 
be not worthwhile if your whole being is not there.

I agree with you at least in that we must have an equilibrium between 
reading/writing and other forms of living.  Each one must find that balance.
That point of balance will change as life passes.

For Jorge L.  Borges -- and I know what he meant -- the whole outside 
"objetive" world was but a metaphor for his dreams, books, memories and 
images.   The outer world was an extension of his library.  He was 
anticipating his Devachan, in a way.

HPB wrote about the Book of Life.

The Universe is like a book with images and reflections and each one of us 
is, on one hand, a reader or observer of that book; but on the other hand, 
each one  is an image  himself, an image to be "read" by his own higher 
self, and so on.

In the "Mahatma Letters" you have another metaphor: each life is a page in 
the Book of Life...

And all of this is in perfect agreement, in my mind, with your idea that 
sometimes we must abandon all thoughts and simply dive into life itself.

I said "sometimes"?

It should be daily.
