Not so simple!

Absolutely more complex than that.

Take care with some HPB's sentences which appear to be out of context.

"To know we do not know" has an inner  correspondence with the famous 
Patañjali Sutra "Yoga is the paralysis of the thinking principle".

Socrates had strong samadhis.

His "daimon", a word which means simply  "spirit", was most likely his own 
higher self. Classical terminology is not our terminology -- we must be 
careful. There is a passage by Marcus Aurelius, for instance, which makes it 
clear. The "Daimon" is the higher self.

Socrates was not initiated -- but  in what???

Socrates and his dialogues inspired more than Plato.

Take a look at the literary structure of HPB's "Conversations on Occultism", 
 "The Key to Theosopohy" ---  and  at the "theosophical" tradition of 
"questions and answers", still alive now in
every sector of the movement.
