Cass,

Thanks.

Where does exactly the spiritual path begin?
It begins right where you are, whether you are married or not.

Lay chelas can be married.

And before being lay chelas we may have to spend a few lives (you never know) as ASPIRANTS to lay-chelaship (lay-discipleship).

It begins right where you are, whether you are married or not.

Buddha's legend -- a legend and no more, like the one on Christ - makes him abandon family as a symbol or metaphor for detachment.

Yet I agree with the fundamental view which you gave us.

Most things are gradual aslong the path, and every "defeat" is but the preparation for a better
victory later on.

Carlos.

In effect, doesn't this mean that to be on the spiritual path we must conquer all our desires, including sexual, in order that we can become truly altruistic. Hence why the Buddha walked away from the life of a married man, his wife and his children. Everything which he probably held dear had to be let go off for the larger family, humanity.

Dear Sufilight,

1) The name of the Master, in the "Initiate" series by Cyril Scott, is
"Justin" Moreward Haig, not "Jerome", I guess. Take a look.

2) I fully agree with your comments and quotations.

Thanks, Carlos.
