"Hi Vince, yes I too have studied at Wheaton. Not only that but I
volunteered there, and then actually took work there in the Olcott
Library and in the Information Department for a number of years. I
still have fond memories of my time there and consider myself
fortunate to have known those dedicated people so well. I even
considered living there for a time, but I was saved from myself just
in time. ;>)"
When you reference that you were saved from yourself just in time,
do you mean that you had a bad experience there somehow? You
considered living there for a time, but didn't. Are there people
that actually live there? It seems like a big mansion.
"The lecturers at Olcott are VERY knowledgeable folks. Tony Lysy and
John Algeo ran most of the study courses while I was attending, and
of course I attended most seminars and assorted "new age" type
courses as well. Do not fail to take advantage of the on-line
courses, Vince, and join the National Lodge if you are able."
Currently, I'm attending some of the courses as a non-member. What
are the benefits of joining the National Lodge? What purpose does
it serve? I see that the lecture prices are about $2.00 cheaper per
session, but that's about it. Is there something more that I'm not
aware of?
"In regard to the latter paragraphs, I have just 2 questions: Why?
and How?"
Why and how what? Could you be a little bit more specific? I
mentioned quite a few things in those two paragraphs.
"I urge you to be moderate with your desire for psychic powers."
Why is that?
"Look deeply within to ascertain your motives and look diligently
for a mentor/teacher/guide."
I've already looked within to ascertain my motives, and am well
satisfied with them. In fact, I had mentioned those motives in the
paragraphs above, referencing a desire to fulfill evolutionary
potential.
As far as looking for a mentor/teacher/guide, I had sought for such
for many years within Christian fundamentalist churches, but they
were unwilling to volunteer overseeing my trance-conditioning. The
Christian fundamentalist leaders instead condemned my metaphysical
interests as demonic, and therefore excommunicate me
for 'occultism'. This is despite the fact that the biblical Peter
and Paul practiced trances themselves in the book of Acts, wherein
trances are twice referred to.
Recently, I'm attending the Theosophical Society of Wheaton, because
they are more open to metaphysics. Either I will find a mentor
there or I will not. I have recieved a fair deal of mentoring from
friendly spirit guides too however, and they seem to be a bit more
familiar with metaphysics, than any of the mortal teachers that I've
thus far personally encountered.
"What you are doing could be physically and mentally dangerous."
I appreciate your concern, but so is exercising at the gym or
driving a car. What specific risks are you concerned with?
Blessings
Vince
