John -- Do you remember "New York George's?"  The waitresses might 
pick a french fry off your dinner and eat it before letting you have 
the plate.  This sort of reminds of that.  

Lots of people gathered for coffee and talk.  The noise got louder and 
louder until one debate would command attention for a few minutes then 
quiet down.  It was a lot of fun.
