It's the great discovery in yoga that "mediumship strengthenes the 
siddhis".
I think that HPB opposed mediumship because it sets a man under 
control of foreign will and detoriates the health. CWL also wrote 
that mediumship is harmful.
I've read somewhere that he didn't believe in autencity of contacts 
in Sinnett's circle but didn't want to hurt him.
