Dear Friends:

Re: Garbled and Distorted Versions of Theosophy???

Re: Teachings termed "Pseudo-- or Neo-- THEOSOPHY ? " ----

I seem to find a lot of them. I mean in contrast to that which our most
recent Teachers of THEOSOPHY offer through the medium of The KEY TO
THEOSOPHY, The SECRET DOCTRINE, ISIS UNVEILED, The MAHATMA LETTERS and The
VOICE OF THE SILENCE, to name a few of the basic reference texts that to me
appear to be in concordance with those. I have found the writings of Mr. W.
Q. Judge [see The OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY, The EPITOME OF THEOSOPHY, PATANJALI'S
YOGA SUTRAS, The ECHOES FROM THE ORIENT, etc... to be in agreement with
those, and of course there are others.

Our problem is compounded by the fact that we are dealing simultaneously
with philosophy, religion and science, a seven-fold Nature, and the rigid
rules of justice between each and every component of the Universe [Nature],
as defined in Karma and by the process of free-willed advancement through
Reincarnation.

We have been taught to view ourselves as but creatures of a single short
life, whereas the reality is that we are essentially immortals. Our
vehicles of living matter change and soon disappear, but innately the
Perceiver (however named) is One and eternal. Our memories of this life are
thus dual: the permanent, and the perishable evanescent.

Our main problem seems to be that we are, each of us, not entirely sure of
what THEOSOPHY is, or of what it teaches.

If we have not formulated for ourselves an abstract [ a kind of menu ] of
the pattern they reveal, and collaterally, have recorded for our own further
study, those questions on which we desire to secure answers, we will
continue to stay speculating in the dark.

According to our ability to organize our search so shall we partially
succeed. The great Teachers of humanity, such as Jesus, Buddha, Krishna,
Zoroaster, the Mahatmas, HPB, and others named and un-named, will be found
to have taught identical ethics and morals. Why? Because there are only
one set of laws that encompass the progress of the WHOLE.

We have to understand that THEOSOPHY is esotericism, and those of its
records now made available to us, are not presented in the form of an
exoteric text book.

Best wishes,

Dallas

Subject: Garbled and Distorted Versions of Theosophy???

If there is genuine Theosophy is there also Pseudo-Theosophy?

Can there be such a thing as Pseudo-Theosophy?

Theosophical students seem to have a variety of opinions on this subject.

But how did H.P. Blavatsky and the Mahatmas view all of this?

Certainly if they knew anything, they knew
what genuine Theosophy was all about. So what were
their views on imitations of Theosophy, on garbled and
distorted versions of Theosophy, etc.?
