Perhaps every public demonstration of faith may include elements of
self-deception, exaggeration and distorted perception. But excluding
the possibility of any element of authentic experience in it is also
illogical and conceited. The experiences of Christian mystics like
Eckhart and St John of the Cross were treated as hogwash by their
contemporary theologians but are now studied by philosophers and
even scientists in their implications for our understanding of
reality.
The Dalai Lama is considered by Tibetan Buddhists to be the
reincarnation of Chenrezig (Avalokiteshwara), the Buda of
Compassion. Are there real and concrete evidences that he is? If so,
what are they?
