Re: Theos-World Re: The Alchemst - a theosphical perspective

Dear Alaya

Every seeker is free to feel encouraged or not to read a book, he must " cull the good " in every source. We are all free to read whatever we feel worthwhile.( Although some books have nothing to offer )
Paulo Coelho is just one of those hundred writers who got very rich producing such silly books but we have to remember that the great majority of people have a very inexpressive awareness of occult culture on spirtitual reality. His very simple and perhaps captivating way of mixing pseudo-occult knowledge with fiction really attracts people.
It may perhaps be - for many - the first contact with such books which such rudimentar traces of spirituality.
What may seem a bit condemnable is the excessive over-rating of his weak works by the media, which is, doubtless, a selling phenomena.
As it may perhaps seem a bit condemnable the aproach and behaviour of the author Paulo Coelho who likes to get photographed in silly mags and other magazine covers and thus being interviewed by mystical magazines on his ever baseless opinions.
I once sent my criticism on John Edwards´s pseudo psychic powers and was also criticized for this...so I meditated on it some times and found out that we can measure the quality of a writer inversally proportional to his popularity.
A true mystic and truely special powered person ( forgiving whatever Siddhis involved ) will never go to to a TV show to show his/hers/ powers off.
That is my POV.
Regards

Krishtar

some authors must be denounced, for the sake of good people...
can you imagine that most high school students think that paulo coelho
is one of the worst writers they have ever read, he doesn't even know
how to write in his own language, his books are full of mistakes and
when asked about this he had the petulance to answer that the mistakes
are intentional to test people if they are paying atention, can you
believe it!... maybe because people abroad are reading translations,
they are not afected by this. His storys are not consistent
literature, the plot is kind of loose.. all his books repeat the same
impact sentences.. and he is read here most by people who have a very
superficial knowledge of religion, philosophy and esoterism... as i
said, is a easy reading book, a self help book, and I am much
impressed to see in a theosophical list people concerned with this
'pop' and inconsistent writer.

it is unfortunate the forum is used to announce or
