Dear Friend and friends:





I was trying to set this into some degree of order.



As I understand it:



1 We deal here with our Universe as a basis and as an operating
system. [In the opening pages of the SECRET DOCTRINE this is the first
emphasis. The second is the history of manifestation and evolution: Cosmic
and Human.]





2 The UNIVERSE implies commencement, ever-continuing energy to
propel life individually and collectively, and a purpose for the present
complexity.



3 We may say that from the ONE (or the ALL ) spring the MANY (and
these are contained within the ONE ). The complexity, in terms of order of
derivation implies a total ORDER and LAWS that operate to provide and secure
the freedom for the development of the individual -- be it an atom or a
human. 



4 This may engage arguments in opposition, but no one can deny the
fact that it is OUR Universe, and its appropriate support systems - those
that have given us with our entitative existence - also, provided us with a
MIND-function, and an emotional selfishness - and both together distinguish
us as separate evolving INDIVIDUALS. And, in effect, each human MIND may
well be a small but very detailed mirror (in potential) of the vast WHOLE. 



5 If we were to assume that there is indeed a single GOD or DEITY,
then the UNIVERSE is it, and all beings live WITHIN IT. Whether we employ
the terms "Divine design," or "intelligent development," we but attempt to
state in brief the present end-product of many millions of years of
development. 



6 As the beginning of DEITY is unknown, its intricate
life-supporting presence is under study, and its future is seen to be
affected by a countless multitude of our lives and choosers, we may
legitimately say that the closest place we are to GOD is within ourselves.
There is no "outside God." The "prayers" that we utter are mind
determinations of more or less strength, and "God (the INNER GOD) helps
those who help themselves." 



7 We, and every other being -- from the least of atoms to the
greatest of galaxies -- are an indissoluble part of IT. Brotherhood is the
ONE FACT that is undeniable. Law being universal, we as MINDS reincarnate
continually. We are related (or have been closely related) to every one the
whole of the Family of Man. 



8 We deal with individuals who consider evidence and are called
philosophers. [Lovers of TRUTH.]



9 Those who study the correspondences relating to Beginnings,
Present day affairs, and potential Futures may be called logicians,
thinkers, dreamers, philosophers and idealists. 



10 We deal with those who carefully measure relationships and call
them and the departments of study: the Sciences and the professing
Scientists. 



11 The function of mathematics is as close to a pure science of facts
and exactitude as we may secure in our present material condition. 



1 Arithmetic (its four rules) is used to define the basic and
most abstract as well as the most concrete rules of all beings and forms.




2 Algebra is used for the science of analogy in multiple
relationships. 



3 Geometry is the exact measurement of forms, conditions,
energies and motion.



12 n logic we either express a statement of FACT or a FALSEHOOD - a
LIE, if an expression is deliberately made to conceal or distort TRUTH.



13 The moral or ethical laws [veracity, honesty, tolerance,
abstinence, charity, self-control, etc.] are absolute. They are the "keys"
to esoteric WISDOM and the purification of the "lower nature" of man.

The work and presentation of a philosopher should always be thoroughly
checked for exactitude and statement of facts. If these are misstated or
misquoted deliberately then a LIE is to be seen.



The word "LIE" has a strong impact. But it lets the reader or listener know
exactly what is thought of an expression or usage. It is not "hypocrisy."
Hypocrisy is to pretend to be something that one is not. 



Everyone can err, but any error can be mitigated and recalled. It takes
great strength of character and a resolute honesty to do this. 



THEOSOPHY does not invite "true believers." It invites free and determined
questing MINDS - those who desire to know the TRUTH about things. Having
secured confirmation of facts, it demands a fearless expression of them.



HPB wrote in the Key (p. 271) "We should aim at creating free men and
women, free intellectually, free morally, unprejudiced in all respects, and
above all things, unselfish." 



The UNITED LODGE OF THEOSOPHISTS is not an organization but an ASSOCIATION
of free individuals -- of volunteers - of students of THEOSOPHY . It has no
By-Laws, Rules or Officers. 



They have assumed a single duty: The keeping in print of the original
teachings of THEOSOPHY as recorded by H. P. Blavatsky, so that all students
may go direct to those and read and study for themselves WITHOUT ANY
INTERMEDIARIES. In terms of work, they usually also provide regular
study-classes where these "original teachings" of THEOSOPHY are read and
discussed. 



In this one fact is safety for all students. The opinions of
"intermediaries" or "interpreters" are excluded. 



The "clash of opinions" is fruitless (and not to be respected) unless those
"opinions" are demonstrable as actual FACTS.
