Daniel, Chuck,
I've just read that actually more people died in the aftermath because of 
the passivity of the President than because of the Hurricane itself.
Many leading theosophists would probably have no troubles with that 
situation in New Orleans as they always say:
"Do nothing, then you can't do any mistake!"

When some time ago an airplane crashed into a city in Holland some time ago, 
there was a Lodge meeting next evening.
Some asked what the theosophical point of view of this accident was.
They were told, that the accident was right, because karma is just.
The fact, that these people died, is proof that they have sinned in Lemuria 
(!!), having killed innocent people, and karma kills them now in return.
That is justice.
What a look that no theosophists were among the Holland fire brigades. I 
have learned from theosophists, that we must not help people with bad karma, 
otherwise we (I mean we, who have no bad karma -- of course) would infect us 
with their bad karma.

I am so glad that no one of such theosophists have any responsible public 
office.

You make a lot of excellent points. But you would think
that George and Laura Bush might actually watch Fox and see
the same things we saw and feel compelled to do something about
it! I was also hoping God and/or Jesus might also talk to them and
tell them to do something! :)

Also last time I checked, Mr. Bush has alot of "power" to do things
us ordinary citizens cannot do if he chooses to do so.

For example, on Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Bush could have seen on the
major news networks the terrible crisis that millions of us also saw
on those same cable networks. He could have quite easily called the
governor of LA, the mayor of NO, the secretary of
Homeland security, the director of FEMA, the U.S. senators of LA,
etc. and said that he wanted to send in within the next twenty four
hours the military and FEMA to aid local and state officals because
of the overwhelming nature of the disaster. He could have even
tried to have a teleconference or videoconference with all of these
officals in order to get everyone on the same page.....

He has the resources, etc. to do that.... You and I can't do
that.... On Friday 3 days later I guess he finally decided to
actually do something.....

Yes I know my comments are probably naive but one could only hope
that true compassion would motivate.................
